PING Diagnostic

This stand-alone program is used to diagnose network intermittent related problems and/or to determine whether a specific IP address is accessible. It works by sending a packet (block) to the specified address and waiting for a reply. The PING diagnostic program is used primarily to troubleshoot Internet connections.

From the Windows® Start menu, click Start > All Programs > EntraPass Corporate Edition > Workstation/Server > PING Diagnostic.
From the scrolling list, select the application you want to monitor (Server, Workstation, Gateway, etc.).
Select the Block size from the list. This field is used to select the amount of data that will be sent. Selections vary from 1KB to 1024KB (1MB).
In the TCP/IP address field, enter IP address of the computer you want to test the communication link.

Note: See your Network Administrator for the required TCP-IP address.
When you have entered the TCP/IP address, click the Test button to execute the command. The information will be sent 16 times. The system displays the number of bytes sent and the number of bytes received and the delay (in milliseconds).

Note: The delay between attempts should be similar, except for the first attempt which could be longer than the others. If you do not have a response, the message will be displayed in the following format: Sent(block) Bytes, No Answer (1717).
